About This Chart
This chart shows general government total expenditure as a percentage of GDP for EU member states. The "Adjusted Finland" view subtracts employment pension schemes (sector S13141) from Finland's total, as these are managed differently in Finland compared to most other EU countries. Employment pension schemes in Finland are classified under general government but operate more like mandatory funded pension systems.
